Announcement of the call for the research project N3_077:
QSAR technique in selecting the proportions of biopromotional bacteria in order to create an innovative eco-fertilizer
Student (intern) - bioinformatician / biostatistician (1 position)
Scope of duties:
- familiarization with the methodology, literature and available QSAR tools
- review of current publications in the field (microbiology, bacterial consortia, synergism)
- development (with the Supervisor’s support) of a QSAR model adapted to the problem and data
- selection (together with the Supervisor) of appropriate QSAR bioinformatics tools
- participation (together with the Supervisor) in the design and analysis of the QSAR experiment
- validation of the obtained QSAR model
- preparation of analysis results, delivery of reports and required statistics
- cooperation with scientific staff of WCh PRz and WRiB SGGW
- as time allows, review of current publications (statistics, biostatistics, QSAR)
- as time allows, review of current publications (microbiology, bacterial consortia, synergism)
Requirements:
- PRz student, second-cycle (Master’s) studies* [more information], in the field of: computer science / mathematics / biotechnology, or 2nd or 3rd year of the field: data engineering and analysis
- knowledge of English at least at B2 level (certificate welcome)
- knowledge of at least one programming language: R, C++, Python, Matlab
- interest in bioinformatics and biostatistics
- nice to have: experience in Linux/Unix/BSD environments (bash, awk, sed, regexp, grep)
- nice to have: participation in: scientific projects / publications / internships / student research groups
- nice to have: professional experience (IT, biotechnology or related fields)
- availability (subject to classes), on weekdays (during the period: 1 Feb 2022 - 30 Apr 2022)
- motivation to work and willingness to learn
We offer:
- the opportunity to participate in a unique bioinformatics and biotechnology project in the Podkarpacie region
- scientific remuneration (1000 PLN “gross-gross” / month)
- scientific supervision (the Project Manager holds a PhD in bioinformatics)
- co-authorship in a reputable journal publication from the Philadelphia list
- the possibility to use the research in a diploma thesis (as part of it or in full)
- real possibility of continuing scientific work (after graduation) at the University
Documents required in the competition (listed in the Regulations) should be submitted in person at the Department of Complex Systems, WEiI PRz, (building F, room 307), by 17 Jan 2022. The procedure for selecting candidates will be completed by 21 Jan 2021. Candidates will be informed about the recruitment results by e-mail.
