"Training network engineers in a VR environment"

On March 30, 2022 a meeting of representatives of the Rzeszow University of Technology and Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise took place in the Virtual Reality laboratory of the Department of Complex Systems. The meeting concerned the summary of activities related to the development of a solution involving the presentation of selected network devices in virtual reality environment. As a result of the cooperation an innovative system enabling to train network engineers in VR environment was created.

During the meeting, Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise was represented by Krystian Sokalski, Country Business Lead Central & Eastern Europe and Szymon Nowakowski, Presales Engineer Data CEE, while the Rzeszów University of Technology was represented by the Vice-Rector for Development and Business Cooperation Prof. Jarosław Sęp PhD, DSc, Eng. and representatives of the team carrying out the work - Andrzej Paszkiewicz PhD Eng., Marek Bolanowski PhD Eng., Mateusz Salach MSc (employees of the Department of Complex Systems), Prof. Grzegorz Budzik PhD, DSc, Eng.  (Department of Machine Design) and students of  the Faculty of Electrical and Computer Engineering: Przemysław Kubiak and Norbert Cierpicki.

The presented solution was created thanks to, among others, research conducted by the Department of Complex Systems at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science of Rzeszow University of Technology aimed at developing modern teaching methods based on virtual technology and augmented reality, as part of the project entitled "Regional Centre of Excellence in Automation and Robotics, Information Technology, Electrical Engineering, Electronics and Telecommunications at the Rzeszow University of Technology" financed by the Minister of Education and Science of the Republic of Poland within the “Regional Initiative of Excellence” program for years 2019–2022. Project number 027/RID/2018/19, amount granted 11 999 900 PLN.
